About Us
Veronica McLaurin-Brown has 34 years of experience in the New Hanover County Schools. She has worked with PreK-12 students and teachers as an educator, a building administrator, and as the Special Assistant to the Superintendent for Eliminating the Achievement Gap.
Peter Rawitsch is a retired educator with 42 years of experience in elementary schools in New Hampshire and upstate New York. He taught 1st grade for 38 years. He is a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) in Early Childhood.
Barbara Avery Garrow retired to Wilmington in 2020 and became involved in the Love Our Children project because of the life-long harm caused by out-of-school suspensions of young children. She has raised three sons and has worked in both the state, private, and nonprofit sectors during her professional career as well as a volunteer and Board Member in several nonprofit organizations.
